The Jazz Big Band is so much fun to play in and to listen to.
Mission & General Information:
For jazz enthusiasts who are more advanced players of sax, trumpet, trombone, drumset, piano, or electric bass. This toe-tapping, finger-snapping band has 15-20 lively members.
Director : Tim Bowman. Phone 342-2596Tim has directed the Community Band Society’s Jazz Big Band since its inception in 2004. Trained on saxophone and piano, Tim played first with the U of A Jazz Ensemble and for the last 12 years with the Rural Route Swing Band based out of Edmonton. As a performer, his band has entertained the Edmonton and Calgary Jubilee, Mayfield Inn, Royal Glenora Club and aboard the Carnival Cruise ship "Inspiration." As an educator, Tim currently teaches music at Glendale Middle School.
Outside of music, Tim pursues several other interests including soccer, curling, baseball, and volunteering with youth. As a result of his volunteer work, Tim has been awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Award.
Time and Place :
Meets weekly, Wednesday Night from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Glendale Middle School
