The Jazz Big Band is so much fun to play in and to listen to.
Mission & General Information:
For jazz enthusiasts who are more advanced players of sax, trumpet, trombone, drumset, piano, or electric bass. This toe-tapping, finger-snapping band has 15-20 lively members.
Director : Tim Bowman. Phone 403 342-2596TIM BOWMAN – Tim has directed the Community Band Society’s “Jazz Explosion” big band since its inception in 2004. Trained on saxophone and piano, Tim played first with the University of Alberta Jazz Ensemble and for the last 15 years with the Rural Route Swing Band based out of Edmonton. As a performer, his band has entertained the Edmonton and Calgary Jubilee Auditoriums, Mayfield Inn, Royal Glenora Club and aboard the Carnival Cruise ship "Inspiration." As an educator, Tim currently teaches music at Glendale Middle School and recently completed his Masters in Education majoring in School Leadership. Tim shares his love of jazz with his wife, Paula, who also plays in the big band, and together they have a young daughter named Melena. Outside of teaching and music, Tim is involved in men's league soccer and enjoys returning 'home' to the farm, located near Onoway, Alberta.
Time and Place :
Meets weekly, Wednesday Night from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Glendale Middle School
