Red Deer's adult community concert bands are active September through to May and there's something for everyone! Study after study has pointed to the personal benefits of active involvement in one of the fine and performing arts.
Make it a personal goal to further round out your life by joining one of the community bands in Red Deer! Community band is about making great music in a relaxed, non-threatening and fun atmosphere.
Mission & General Information of the Monday Night Band:
For players from 3 to 50 years of experience, the Monday Night Band is a traditional concert band that performs music at levels 3 and 4, or about the level of most high school bands. About 50 in number, many members of this group got their start in school bands and have later decided to get involved in band once again.

GLEN TRAQUAIR - Glen has lived in Red Deer for the past twenty-seven years. He is the director of bands at Notre Dame High School in Red Deer. Glen has also served as band director at St. Thomas Aquinas Junior High School. Before moving to Red Deer Glen taught in Saskatchewan for five years. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Music Education from the University of North Dakota at Dickinson, and a Fine Arts Diploma in Conducting Wind Literature from the University of Calgary. Glen is also an accomplished saxophonist and clinician. Glen has directed the Monday Night Band since September, 2001, in addition to a four month stint in the spring of 2000. This is Glen’s tenth year as director of the Monday Night Band. Glen is a member of the international bandmasters’ fraternity Phi Beta Mu and was recently inducted into Bandworld’s John Philip Sousa Honor Society
Time and Place :
Meets weekly, Monday Night from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and Notre Dame High School
