Red Deer's adult community concert bands are active Sept through to May and there's something for everyone! Study after study has pointed to the personal benefits of active involvement in one of the fine and performing arts.
Make it a personal goal to further round out your life by joining one of the community bands in Red Deer! Community band is about making great music in a relaxed, non-threatening and fun atmosphere.

Mission & General Information:
For the 'never evers' and the long, long agos'. Focused toward the adult beginner who has little or no experience on a brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument. This band consistently attracts 15 to 30 beginning players year after year over the past decade.

Lillian Traquair. Phone 403-342-0601Lil has lived in Red Deer for the past twenty-five years. She has made a career of specializing in teaching beginning bands for the Red Deer Catholic School system. Lil has also served as band director at G.H. Dawe Community School and founded the badn programs at St. Parrick Community School, École La Prairie and École Camille J. LeRouge School. Before moving to Red Deer, Lil taught in Saskatchewan for four years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education-Composite Music Major from the University of North Dakota at Dickenson and is currently a candidate for Master of Distance Education at Athabasca University.
Lil has always had a love for the community band movement since playing, traveling and competing with the Moose Jaw Lions Community Band as a school age musician. She has directed adult church choir, community musicals and continues to work as a low brass and Double reed clinician in Central Alberta. This year marks her first year as a conductor of the Adult Novice Band.
Time and Place :
Meets weekly, Monday evenings from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Location TBA.
