The
2001-2002 season was great! Some of the accomplishments
that stood out for us were:
•
receiving the Red Deer Mayor's Recognition Award based
on the previous year
•
a Superior Band rating at Kiwanis Festival and ABA
Festivals
•
a very professional performance of our senior
Royals members and the Red Deer Symphony
•
providing an emotional and meaningful close to the
Keith Mann Tribute concert Jan..25
•
hosting another successful Festival of Champions May
5, 2002
•
a repeat of our terrific band and colorguard performance
in the Calgary Stampede Parade
•
our highest mark ever at the Stampede Fanfare
ShowBand competition in the Saddledome (88.9)
•
top marching band and top overall musical entry in
the Klondike Days Parade
• second
highest band with a mark of 86.1 at the Klondike Days
Marching Band Invitational- not our best performance
, but pretty darned impressive never-the-less
•
top Drum Majors in the K-Days Parade and field show
performance
•
a total of 42 performances around the province with
no rain!
•
received parade appearance fees totalling more than
$5000
•
earned prize money at Stampede and K-Days totalling
$4250
•
using our "music in motion" to thrill audiences totalling
over a million people that year |
